Hibernian Life Squash Legends Golf Day Fundraiser.
As the name suggests, we were lucky enough to have the Squash worlds’
best known legends, Jonah Barrington MBE (six time British
Open winner), Jahangir Khan (ten time British Open winner)
and Peter Nicol MBE (former World No.1, World Champion
and Commonwealth Games winner) at our annual fund-raiser.
Teams of four enjoyed a marvellous day out and can be assured that all monies raised will go towards the development and promotion of the game of squash in Ireland.
The event was held at the fabulous PGA National at Palmerstown House on Friday 21st September. The PGA National is one of the top courses in the country and those playing certainly enjoyed the challenges of the course. The golf was followed by a champagne reception and dinner.
The esteem in which the guests were held was evidenced in part by the fabulous response to the afterdinner auction where a racquet signed by Nicol and Khan raised €2,000 while a squash top similarly signed fetched €1,500.
Irish Squash President, John O'Connor - pictured below - is anxious to highlight the tremendous work done by both COO, Angus Kirkland and golfing co-ordinator Brian Williams in making the event the success it turned out to be.
