SELECTION CRITERIA FOR U13, U15 & U17 IRISH TEAMS 2005/06

1. Players must be eligible to play for Ireland (see Byelaw 7) and be under the relevant age on the final day of the competition and be selected by the selection committee.

2. Selection committee comprises: The Junior Administrator, The Team Coach, and The Team Manager

3. Team Selection will be based on the ranking points gained from three Provincial Opens and the Irish Junior Nationals in the appropriate age group.

4. The Irish Open is a compulsory event but it will not contribute towards ranking points.

5. If a player is unable to compete in a tournament (or complete all matches over a tournament weekend) due to illness/injury a doctors/physiotherapists certificate/letter must be submitted to Irish Squash.

6. Fitness & Good Behaviour: To ensure that players maintain the appropriate level of fitness and good behaviour the selection committee will also consider:

General behaviour on and off court
Attendance at squad sessions
Commitment to training programme as designated by Team Coach

7. As soon as you receive notification of your selection to the team, all monies must be paid by the required date, otherwise you will not be allowed to travel.

8. NB Players wishing to be selected in two age groups must indicate their intentions before the start of the season in writing to the Junior Administrator c/o Irish Squash office and must play in ALL Provincial Opens and the Irish Nationals. Again the Irish Open will be a compulsory tournament but will not contribute towards ranking points. The Junior Committee will decide in which age group players participate in all tournaments.
Please note the following important point concerning team selection

9. Players having to move up from one age group to another will be entitled to carry over 30% of the points gained at the lower age group.

Players should discuss the above with their coaches/managers and parents so that they are clear on what must be done.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR U19 IRISH PANELS 2005/06

1. Players must be eligible to play for Ireland (see Byelaw 7) and be under the relevant age on the final day of the competition and be selected by the selection committee.

2. Selection committee comprises three members: The Junior Administrator, The Team Coach, and The Team Manager

iv. Irish Senior Nationals

4. Points will be gained on the junior scale from Irish Junior Nationals and Munster Junior Open. Although a compulsory event, there are no points gained at Irish Junior Open.

It must be noted that points alone will not form the basis of team selection for U19 players. Panels will be picked based on points and the team will be selected by the selection committee.

5. Results from the Senior Tour tournaments and European Junior Tournaments will be taken into consideration and players should compete in as many senior tour events as possible. (Players must report all results to the squash office for the attention of the Junior Administrator).

6. If a player is unable to compete in a tournament (or complete all matches over a tournament weekend) due to illness or injury a letter or certificate from the doctor or physiotherapist must be submitted to Irish Squash.

7. Fitness and Good Behaviour: To ensure that players maintain the appropriate level of fitness and good behaviour the selection committee will also consider:

1) General behaviour on and off court
2) Attendance at squad sessions
3) Commitment to the training programme as designated by Team Coach

8. When selecting a team to represent Ireland the selection committee will endeavour to select the strongest team, whilst maintaining fairness to all players.

9. As soon as you receive notification of your selection, all monies must be paid within the required time, otherwise you will not be allowed to travel.

10. Players having to move up from one age group to another will be entitled to carry over 30% of the points gained at the lower age group.

Players should discuss the above with their coaches/managers and parents so that they are clear on what must be done.
