Information on the Irish Grand
Prix
Tour 2004-05
The Irish senior Tour incorporates 9 events. These
will be spread throughout Ireland as described in the Irish
Squash Calendar. Ranking points for Irish selection will be
available only from the Tour. Home-based Irish players will gain
points from their best six events. World standard and foreign-based
players will receive exemptions from certain events.
The prize money listed below is the minimum required
to take part in the Tour. Tournament Organisers may pay above this
figure if they so wish. The prize money is available for Irish players
ONLY.
1. Criteria for Irish team selection
-
National Championships compulsory for all players;
-
All Players must play the Nationals plus three
other GP Tour Events;
Exception: Players ranked in Worlds Top 30: Nationals plus two
other GP Tour Events;
-
All players must play a minimum of one GP Tour
Event before January 1st and minimum of one event after January
1st.;
-
For Irish team selection – Best 6 events
to count;
- For World Top 30, Professional players and foreign-based players
a multiplier is used to calculate their overall score equaling
6 events;
Multiplier explained:
Top 30 World Ranked player 1,000 = 1,800 adjusted
Professional Player 1,000 = 1,385 adjusted
Foreign Based Player 1,000 = 1,385 adjusted
Home Based Player 1,000 = 1,000 (no multiplier)
- For the Women's Worlds 2004, there will be trials held in September.
Players still have to qualify under the Grand Prix Rules but the
trials will determine places and positions on the team.
