Senior Squash

Please note the following alteration to Irish Squash Bye-Laws in relation to players who make late withdrawals and/or who fail to complete competitions:

‘In the event that a player scratches from a tournament after the draw is made then a two tournament ban is imposed on the offending player (relevant to both senior and junior). A one tournament ban and 0 points penalty will be imposed should a player pull out during the tournament. Either of the above will not be enforced in the event of a medical cert being submitted.’

This bye-law has effect from January 1, 2007

Information on the Senior Tour 2009 - 2010.
The Irish Senior Tour incorporates 8 events. These are spread throughout Ireland as described in the Irish Squash Calendar. Ranking points for Irish selection will be available only from the Tour. Home-based Irish players will gain points from their best events as per the divisors outlined below. For PSA and WISPA ranked players and non-Irish based players a multiplier will be applied to points gained and they will therefore have more choice in which events they play.

The prize money listed below is the minimum required to take part in the Tour. Tournament Organisers may pay above this figure if they so wish. The prize money is available for Irish players ONLY.

Senior Tours, Prize fund and events:

Prize Monies for each Event

Prize monies must be paid to the top 6 placed Irish players in each GP event. Tournament Organisers may pay non- Irish players but only after the top 6 placed Irish players are paid.
There are two sets of minimum required prize monies to be paid out depending on the number of people in the draw:
All men's events will be 16 draw and with the exception of the Nationals which will be 16 draw all women's events will be 8 draw.

Men's National Ranking System and Selection:
For the 2009/20010 season the Men’s Tour will consist of 8 events. Rankings are based on performance in the tour events over a rolling 12 months, with the number of events that are taken into consideration dependent on the type of player. To ensure all players have an equal chance, weightings (multipliers) will be applied to points gained. The Irish Nationals is a compulsory event for all players.

Player 1: Top 70 Professional.
Player will be given an automatic Irish ranking based on their PSA ranking, provided they are within the top 70 on the PSA list on September 1st 2007. Players must play in the Nationals.

Player 2: Professional 71 –200
Best results from 35% of events played within the last calendar year, equating to 3 events. A multiplier will be applied - provided they are ranked between 71 an 200 on the PSA list on September 1st 2007

Player 3: Irish player resident overseas
Best results from 50% of events played within the last calendar year, equating to 4 events. A multiplier will be applied.

Player 4: Irish resident player
Best results from 65% of events played within the last calendar year, equating to 5 events. No multiplier will be applied.

Player 4 is used as the standard for determining the multiplier for other player types. Where there are 8 events the top 5 scoring events (65%) will be added together for an Irish resident player. The maximum points achievable is 4000 (1000 for the Nationals and 750 in four other tournaments).

The maximum unweighted points achievable for Player 2 is 2500 (1000 for the Nationals and 750 in two other tournaments). Using the Player 4 score as the baseline, the Multiplier for Player 2 is calculated as 4000/2500 = 1.6.

Similarly, the Multiplier for Player 1 is 4.0 and for Player 3 is 1.23.

Grand Prix Points
The Grand prix is a straight race with no multipliers with the winner determined at the end of the season. Therefore for the grand prix the more events you play the better position you will achieve. Positions will be updated on the 1st of each month
