Gillen Markets Irish Nationals 2011

Congratulations to Madeline Perry and Arthur Gaskin who were crowed Irish Squash National Champions earlier today in Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club. Perry had to come back from 1 love down to even up the game at 1-1. Aisling Blake pushed World Number 4 all the way and with the match all square at 2-2, Perry had to be at her best in the fifth to seal her 13th title.

Carlow's Arthur Gaskin won a very well earned first Nationals Title, defeating last years champion John Rooney. Gaskin got off to a blistering start and looked like a man on a mission taking the early lead. Rooney tied up at 1-1 but Gaskin pushed on and was not going home without the title, he closed out the match with a 3-1 victory.

Ulster Open 2011 - Congratulations to Graeme Stewart and Senga MacFie who took the honors at the Ulster Open last weekend. Full report and results and be viewed here.

Leinster Open - Dutch favourite Dylan Bennett fulfilled his seeding in the Leinster Open in Ireland when he beat second seed Rasmus Nielsen in the final of the PSA World Tour Challenger 5 squash event in its sixth year at the Fitzwilliam LT&SC in Dublin.
But the 27-year-old from Eindhoven was taken the full distance by Nielsen, and had to fight back from 2/1 down before clinching his 11-3, 5-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9 victory after 55 minutes.

The triumph marks the sixth PSA Tour title of Bennett's career - but his first since March last year.

Call Management Munster Senior Open - In the Men's A Arthur Gaskin, the no. 1 seed, had a relatively easy win over Irish team-mate Derek Ryan who was nursing an achilles after his weekend exertions while in the 3/4 play-offs Graham Stewart had convincing win over Nigel Peyton at the finals of this seasons event at Silversprings. Senga McFee beat an under-par Emma Toolan in the Ladies A final.
