The Masters' Page

Please refer to the minutes of the Masters Ulster Meeting concerning criteria for selection on International teams for this season.

The following alteration to Irish Squash Bye-Laws in relation to players who make late withdrawals and/or who fail to complete competitions came into effect from January 1. 2007:

‘In the event that a player scratches from a tournament after the draw is made then a two tournament ban is imposed on the offending player (relevant to both senior and junior). A one tournament ban and 0 points penalty will be imposed should a player pull out during the tournament. Either of the above will not be enforced in the event of a medical cert being submitted.’

O35 and O40 Irish Open:
Players came from all over Ireland, England and Scotland to play in this event, held in MOunt Pleasant. Maria Blair and Marian Bermingham ran a very successful tournament. In the O35s final David Ayerst from Belfast outplayed Dara O’Flynn in a keely contested match winning 3-0. In the O40s final Nick Englert from England had too much in his arsenal for Jim Flynn who fought very and played well but lost 3-0. With the eight man draw all players had three good games in 24 hours. According to JOhn O'Connor, all in all a great weekend for squash.
