Cannon Kirk GillenMarkets Irish Squash Open 2024 – Player Preview – Sean Conroy

Our final player preview before tomorrow’s Cannon Kirk GillenMarkets Irish Squash Open 2024, is hometown favourite Sean Conroy.

The 29 year old, former national champion takes part in his hometown event hoping to prove his ability to still operate at the top level of elite squash.

Sean has been active across Europe competing in several top competitions this season including the Greenwich Open 2023, the PSA Poznan Open 2023, The Hague open 2023 and most recently, the Garavan’s West of Ireland Open 2024.

Sean proved his mettle to finish 5th at the senior nationals, having been the 9th seed and after being defeated by Sam Buckley in the ¼ finals.

Conroy was pivotal in Ireland’s impressive run during the 2023 WSF World Team Championships in New Zealand in December.

He takes on world no.91, Perry Malik of England and will be hoping to cause an upset after a R1 exit last year. You can watch Sean live vs Malik on Premier Sports 2 (Sky 419 & VM 417) from 5pm on Tuesday 23rd April.

Irish Squash would also like to extend their congratulations to Sean and his girlfriend Emelia Korhonen, who he lives with in Amsterdam after they recently announced their engagement.
