Irish Team announced for ESF European Team Division 1 Campaign

Irish Squash have selected Sam Buckley, Oisin Logan, Michael Creaven, Conor Moran and Gavin L’Estrange for the upcoming ESF European Team Division 1 Championships in Zurich, Switzerland from May 1st to 4th.

Off the back of a super campaign last season, securing promotion to the top tier of European squash, confidence is brimming and the team will fancy their chances at making a splash in Zurich.

Coming off superb individual seasons and having been part of the team that gained promotion, Buckley, Moran and Logan retain their places in the squad for this year’s campaign. They bring vast experience, know-how and form to the ranks.

Sam, our national no.1, won his third consecutive national title in February, carrying over his December form when he defeated Malaysian Addeen Idrakie, the world no.64 in straight games at the WSF Men’s Team World Championship in New Zealand

Oisin Logan also travels in terrific form, having captured a Leinster Senior Open title this season before a thrilling run to the Senior National Final in February. Logan also impressed with his performances down under for the WSF Men’s Team World Championship.

Conor Moran has plenty of experience at international level and added a Curragh Squash Open and Munster Squash Open to his name this year, alongside many deep tournament runs proving his consistent form.

Michael Creaven also prevailed in a provincial open this season, securing the Ulster Senior Open. In December he also played a pivotal role for team Ireland as they out-performed their seed at the World Team Championships.

Gavin L’Estrange brings exciting potential to the squad following some impressive tournament outings this season and will now have the chance to fulfil his potential under an international spotlight.

It will be an uphill task for the team as they face Europe’s elite but they will take plenty of solace and confidence from their World Team Championship performances earlier in the season.

Sutton’s Eoin Ryan travels with the team as Coach, bringing an abundance of experience and know-how to Zurich for the big stage.
