Empowering Women in Sport: A resounding success at Carlow Lawn Tennis Club

On Saturday, April 27th, Carlow Lawn Tennis Club proudly hosted an inspiring Women in Sport leadership and participation event, supported by Tennis Ireland, Badminton Ireland, Table Tennis Ireland, and Irish Squash. This collaborative effort aimed to boost female involvement in racket sports and highlight pathways to increase accessibility and engagement at all skill levels.

The day commenced with an enlightening session led by Chloe Magee of Badminton Ireland, a seasoned Olympian. She shared invaluable insights into the robust support systems provided by her coaches throughout her elite sporting career, setting a motivating tone for the day.

The afternoon was vibrant and open to the public, offering taster sessions for each racket sport. It was a delightful scene as women and girls of all ages and abilities participated, their laughter and smiles painting a picture of joy and community spirit. These sessions, led by the talented coaches who attended the morning talk, proved to be a cornerstone of the event.

With 70 attendees exploring the dynamic world of racket sports, many expressed their interest in memberships, reflecting the event’s success in igniting a passion for sports among newcomers. The event was not only about participation but also about building a supportive community that welcomes and encourages women, regardless of their experience level.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Carlow Lawn Tennis Club for their generous support and commitment to making sports accessible and enjoyable for all women. This event has laid a strong foundation for future initiatives aimed at increasing membership across all clubs in Ireland by engaging more women in the exhilarating world of squash and other racket sports. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to welcome more women and girls into our clubs, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
