New €50 million capital Community Recognition Fund

A new €50 million capital fund is available through county councils throughout the Republic of Ireland.

In the first instance, you should contact your local authority for more details, to discuss potential projects, and to learn more about the application process. Many local authorities are hosting information sessions. Irish Squash is also available to assist affiliated clubs and discuss projects that may be eligible.

The Community Recognition Fund was first introduced in 2023 to recognise the huge efforts made by communities in welcoming and supporting people coming to Ireland.

Local authorities, in collaboration with communities, will be funded to develop projects that will deliver long term benefits to those living in the areas selected.

Projects that will be funded include:

  • Development or refurbishment of community or cultural facilities including play areas, walkways, parks, community/sensory gardens, allotments, and recreational areas;
  • Development or refurbishment of local club and sports facilities;
  • Enhancement to school/parish facilities which are open to use by all of the community after school hours;
  • Purchase of equipment for local clubs, festivals, community events and organisations
  • Transport infrastructure such as community vehicles

The minimum level of funding for an individual project is €50,000 with a maximum of €500,000 applying. Potential projects include new squash court development, major club refurbishments and purchase of large scale equipment such as interactive squash and camera technology.
