Final Results – European U15/17 Team Championships
The Under 15/17 team championships take place in Prague from the 8th May to the 11th.
The Irish teams are as follows:

SUNDAY 11th MAY
The U15s played Wales in a play off for 9/10th place but unfortunately lost 2-1 so finished in 10th place overall. Scott Gillanders had a good victory at number 1 winning 3-1 but both Stephen Hearst & Sophie O’Rourke lost their matches.
The U17s also had a tough match vs. Germany and also lost 2-1. Philip McSweeney had a great win at 1 winning 3-1. After a tough week and after some great wins especially vs. France Hannah Craig lost her match as did Paul O’Mahony. So a final placing of 14th place for Ireland

SATURDAY – 9-16 PLAY OFF
The Under 15s played Finland in the play offs and beat them 3-0 with Scott Gillanders, Stephen Hearst & Ellie McVeigh all winning 3-0. A super result from the team after the disappointment of not getting into the 1-8 play offs. Then in the 9-13th play off Ireland beat Sweden 3-0 with Scott Gillanders, Sean Dineen and Ellie McVeigh winning their matches. Ireland now play Wales on Sunday for 9th place overall.
The U17s play Sweden on Saturday in the 9-16s play offs. Unfortunately Philip McSweeney lost at number 1. But Hannah Craig came back with a super victory to win her match 3-0. But Paul O’Mahony lost 3-1 having won the first match. Ireland then played Slovenia and won convincingly 3-0 with Philip McSweeney, Morgan Kelly & Stephanie Ryan all winning 3-0.

FRIDAY 9th MAY
Ireland play France on Friday morning and got off to a super start with a great win by Hannah Craig 3-2 over Elise Romba in a very tight match. Unfortunatly Philip McSweeney lost the next match, Philip showed some good touches in the 2nd game and led but his opponent Enzo Corigliano had too much for him and won 3-0. In the 3rd match Morgan Kelly lost 3-0 so France win the tie overall 2-1.
The Under 15s played Germany and lost 2-1 with Scott Gillanders the only winner in a very close 3-2. Unfortunately both Ellie McVeigh and Sean Dineen lost 3-0. Ireland now go into the 9-16 play offs.
Friday finished off with a good victory 2-1 over Italy. Both Stephanie Ryan and Philip McSweeney had 3-0 wins. Unfortunately Paul O’Mahony lost his match 3-0. Ireland now go into 9-16 play offs tomorrow.

THURSDAY 8th MAY
A mixed day so far for the Irish U15 & 17’s teams. The U17 went down 2-1 to The Netherlands with Hannah Craig the only winner while both Philip McSweeney & Paul O’Mahony from Cork lost their matches. Later in the day the U17’s had a comfortable 3-0 victory over Turkey.
The U15’s had a super 2-1 victory over Scotland with both Scott Gillanders and Stephen Hearst winning while Ellie McVeigh lost her match. The U15’s played Switzerland on Thursday evening but unfortunately lost 2-1. The only winner was Sophie O’Rourke from Cork. Both Scott Gillanders and Stephen Hearst lost tight games 3-2 and 3-1 respectively.
